TWO TRIMESTERS DOWN, ONE TO GO!

28 weeks

We've reached yet another milestone.  Not only are we well into our double digit countdown to LP's arrival, but we're into the final trimester! Woohoo!  LP will be here before we know it---maybe even in less than 12 weeks.  Any time after 37 weeks would be just fine with me :-)

So, along with the final trimester of pregnancy, comes all the craziness.  Good, fun and exciting craziness, but craziness nonetheless.  This is the trimester when all of the cajillion things that need to happen before LP arrives have all combined into one overwhelming task that seems to hang over my head every minute of every day.  Well, at least that's the way it seems to me---the uber planner/researcher.  Everything seems like it's the biggest deal in the world and requires the utmost care and research.  And, even though I know that LP will be just fine if the wall letters for his nursery arrive after he is born, I just can't bear the thought of having a single detail that isn't perfect.  I know--fully irrational.  But, since it's all for my first born child, it must all be perfect :-)

Let's see.  We need to: prepare the nursery, take maternity photos (and find something flattering to wear), learn to use our new camera (more on that below), pick a pediatrician, review our daycare options and decide what the plan will be after I go back to work, attend two baby showers, attend a wedding, attend a work conference, take a birthing, CPR, breastfeeding class (which will pretty much absorb our Saturdays and a few evenings in June), scrub down our house, open and set up all of our baby gear (and read the manuals, of course), wash LP's clothes, sheets, etc., and the list could go on forever.  Now do you see why I'm so crazy right now?!  Tons to do!!!  But, I'm looking forward to every single second of it, especially the baby showers.  I just love all that cute baby stuff :-)

Speaking of showers, some friends from work threw me and two other friends a triple baby shower this past weekend!  All three of us are due within 7 weeks of each other, and we're all having little boys!  So fun, right?  The shower was a ton of fun---wonderful brunch foods (including a to-die-for tres leches cake . . . thanks Jennie), mommy mimosas (aka virgin), hilarious games, generous and awesome gifts, and most importantly, great company!  We got some of the things we need the most:  our Pack N Play and linens, our Rock N Play newborn napper, our bathtub, our Moby wrap, and some adorable clothes!  I'm so grateful to work with such amazing people.  I'm sure the moms in the group will be a wealth of knowledge as to how to do the lawyer/mom thing :-)

I came home from the shower feeling super lucky (and super full :-) ), and was expecting to just show Vikas everything that we received and relax for the rest of the day.  Well, little did I know that Vikas would have one more gift for me when I got back.  After he brought all of our gifts in, he said "you have one more gift that arrived today."  And, since we've just been putting our packages in our empty living room (yep, the decorating of the house has definitely taken a back seat for a while), I expected that it was a gift from someone from out of town that wouldn't be able to make it to the showers.  When I didn't see anything new in there, he told me to look in the dining room.  And there it was!  Our new Nikon D3100 with the 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses!  I had mentioned to Vikas that we really needed to get a real camera to capture all of our memories with LP and so that I could take an amateur photography class.  But, I hadn't really done any research at all.  Well, he did, and he bought this great camera for us!  I can't wait to take pictures of our family with it for years to come :-) That is, after I read the manual and watch the instruction videos (yes, plural). Lol!

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures from the shower, but I do have some updated belly pics.  As you can see, LP is definitely getting all the nourishment he needs (and maybe even a little more, at times . . . see reference to tres leches cake above . . .lol).

99 DAYS AND COUNTING!!!!

25 weeks, 6 days

So, here we are!  Finally, we're at the double digit coutdown! We couldn't be more excited that the time to meet our little man is getting closer.  Well, I suppose it's not that close, since we still have 14 weeks to go.  But, with the next few months that we have coming up from showers to weddings to childbirth classes (and a few others), we're pretty much booked up until just about 4 weeks before my due date!  I'm pretty sure these next few months are going to fly by!  Let's just hope that I'm still feeling as good (and I'm not as big as a house) when it's go time. :-)

What have we been up to?  Well, a few weeks ago, Vikas and I managed to complete our baby registry!  Whew!  Talk about overwhelming. I thought with all of my nieces, nephews, friends' kids, and my designated "baby shower shopper" status at work I would be an old pro at registering.  I mean, I've navigated the aisles of Babies "R" Us and Buy Buy Baby more times than I can remember.  But, then I realized that picking out all of the things that I would use with my child was a whole different ball game, and registering became a lot more complicated.  Obviously, all parents want what is best for their baby and probably put a good amount of thought and consideration into the things that they register for.  But, combine that with a total type A personality, and you've got a serious project on your hands (at least for me).

I knew that I would have to do some major leg work before getting Vikas involved.  So, before we went to the store to register, I read a million reviews, asked for tons of opinions, read and highlighted my Baby Bargains book cover to cover, and finally managed to narrow the big ticket items down to just a few choices.  I'm pretty sure he thought I was nuts.  But, like I said, I want the safest, most durable, and reasonable things for our little guy.  So, I had to what I had to do . . . and, I think it paid off :-) Basically, when we went in, Vikas had 2-3 choices for each item, and the main difference was usually just the appearance.  There were no major disagreements, no stress, no "what did we get ourselves into?", and we were in and out pretty quickly.  But, I fully admit, I was kind of over it after a few hours, so decided that I would just pick out the little things online--an option that I love, especially since I even wanted to read reviews about the $10 items . . . lol!  Within 2 days, we had every little thing that we could ever imagine LP needing on our registry!  Obviously we don't expect the majority of it, but we figured, why skip the discount at the end, right?  We've got to be budget-minded with a little one on the way!  Boy, do kids cost a pretty little penny, huh?!  But, SO SO SO worth it.

In addition to getting our registry completed, we've ordered our furniture and have our bedding and some decor items ready to go.  So, hopefully you can expect some nursery pics in several weeks!  I also had my 24 week appointment and glucose screen a little over a week ago.  The test wasn't even close to as bad as I've heard.  When the nurse gave me the orange sugar drink, she told me I had to finish the whole bottle in 15 or 30 minutes ( I can't remember exactly--preggo brain, you know?).  Well, to her surprise, I had that drink gone within about 2 minutes! I attribute my ability to drink the sugar drink so quickly to my never-ending love for all things sugar and kid-like: candy (any kind other than chocolate), superman ice cream, kiddie popsicles, and the list goes on.  So, having to drink an sugary drink that just tasted like a slightly oversweetened flat orange pop was nothing this lady couldn't handle :-)  In any event, the glucose screen came back fine.  Phew!  Another thing to be thankful for. As for everything else, I'm measuring right on track, and LP is doing great!  His heartbeat was at 145, which is the lowest that it's ever been so far.

Well, that's it for now.  Here's an updated belly pic for all of you.  It's crazy just how much changes in a few weeks!

25 weeks, 2 days pregnant with our peanut!

Until next time!
